From Rumble to Repair: Noisy Hoover Washing Machine Repair in Blaby

Called out today to Blaby, Leicester to a Hoover washing machine where the customer had reported that the machine had become really noisy during use.

Noisy washing machines can be caused by a few different things. Common suspects include worn drum bearings, something trapped inside the drum, a loose or damaged belt, pump noise, or a motor issue. So rather than jumping straight to conclusions, I carried out a proper check to narrow down where the noise was coming from.

After testing the machine and inspecting the key areas, the fault was traced to the motor. More specifically, the motor brushes were badly worn.

Motor brushes are small carbon parts that make contact with the motor and help it run correctly. Over time, they naturally wear down. When they become too short or uneven, the motor can become noisy, run poorly, or sometimes stop turning the drum altogether.

In this case, the worn brushes were causing the washing machine to sound much louder than it should. A new set of motor brushes was ordered and fitted, and once replaced, the machine was tested again.

The result was a much quieter, smoother-running Hoover washing machine and a happy customer.

It is always worth getting unusual appliance noises checked early. A noise that starts off as a minor annoyance can sometimes lead to a bigger fault if left too long.
