Oven Element That Couldn’t Take the Heat: Oven Repair in Blaby

Published on 7 June 2026 at 15:16

Today I attended an Indesit freestanding oven in Blaby, Leicester where the customer reported that the oven was no longer heating from the grill.

With oven heating faults, one of the first areas to check is the heating element. A faulty element is a common reason for an oven not reaching temperature, heating unevenly, or not heating at all.

After safely inspecting the oven, the fault was clear — the oven element had completely blown and had actually split in half. At that point, there was no mystery left. The element had failed and needed replacing.

A blown oven element can sometimes show obvious signs of damage, such as burning, bubbling, cracking, or a visible break in the metal. In other cases, it may look fine from the outside but still fail electrically, which is why proper testing and inspection is important.

For this repair, I removed the failed element, ordered the correct replacement part for the Indesit freestanding oven, and fitted the new element. Once replaced, the oven was tested to make sure it was heating correctly again.

This was a straightforward but satisfying repair — and a good reminder that when an oven stops heating, the cause is often hidden at the back of the oven cavity.

If your oven is not heating, taking too long to cook, or keeps tripping the electrics, it is worth getting it checked before assuming the whole appliance needs replacing.

I offer local oven repairs across Leicester and Leicestershire, including freestanding oven repairs, heating faults and replacement oven elements.
